THE EMPIRICAL X FREDERICK

This collaboration was born from a shared love of detail, origin, and composition. New York fashion designer Frederick Anderson approaches fabric the way Empirical approaches flavor — with an obsession over the origin of materials and a commitment to precision.

Together, we’ve designed and distilled a spirit built from distinctly American ingredients: bright, clear Douglas fir and warm, buttery Southern pecan. It’s layered, expressive, and tailored for your tonic.

Full circle

Douglas fir brings that sharp, piney lift you catch when you crush a needle between your fingers. Pecan does the heavy lifting — roasted until it tips into brown butter and caramel, it gives the whole thing its slow, nutty warmth. Angelica root holds it down with a musky, earthy backbone that keeps the brighter notes from flying off.

We treat each on its own first — distilling fir to keep it fresh and green, coaxing pecan into that toasty, pie-crust register, letting the root settle into its depth — then layer them back together until it feels complete. The result is big, American ingredients made precise, detailed, and worth sitting with.

We’ve been working with Douglas fir since our very first spirits, chasing that green snap of the needles and how it plays against grain. Here, it comes together with Frederick in a way that feels complete — pecan carrying the warmth, angelica grounding it all.

The profile lands in that space gin lovers will recognize: bright, aromatic, detailed.
